Parents Day

On World Parenting Day, we celebrate the transformative journey of raising children, now significantly reshaped by digital tools and platforms. Today’s parents navigate an interconnected world where technology offers unprecedented access to information, support, and community. From parenting apps that track developmental milestones to online forums providing real-time advice, digital resources empower parents to make informed decisions and find solidarity. Social media connects families with global parenting trends, while educational apps enhance children’s learning experiences. These advancements not only streamline daily parenting tasks but also foster a more engaged, informed, and connected parenting experience, reflecting the profound impact of the digital age on family life.

“Today’s digital age and the interconnected world present their own set of challenges and opportunities in managing their own relationship with these devices and their children’s access and usage of digital platforms and tools. Knowing how to use technology as a parenting tool can work to make a parent’s life easy, helping them find innovative ways to manage tasks, keeping their children safe and stimulating learning amongst children. Millennials have a widespread access to technology and each of us has adapted technology into our everyday lives.

Today technology helps in developing and fostering a love for learning which can be paced accordingly to the child’s interest, learning ability and helps develop skills. The access to E Books, interactive lessons, quizzes, Video does help children in their learning journey, provided its is structured, involves the parents, filters inappropriate content and also monitors screen time and online activities of the child.

Digital tools also bring about their own set of challenges- like parents spending lesser time with their children, parents being distracted on their devices when spending time with children, and a recent phenomenon about “Sharenting” – or sharing too much information about their children’s activities or accomplishments online, and the trends of children  given these devices before the age of 5- A walk into any restaurant, food court- you can see children glued to these devices.

While we embrace technology and as a tool for learning and communication, it is important to be involved on how it will be utilized for the child’s growth and development.” Attributed by Vinod Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer and Business Head, Edunation Serviced Pvt Limited

“Today parenting practices have evolved greatly in response to digital tools and platforms, making digital literacy an essential skill for the entire family. It is important for parents to teach their children not only about how to use various social media platforms but also to be aware about online safety, cyberbullying, and the potential dangers of social media usage. Through regular two-way conversations with children, parents can navigate the digital world with an increased assurance of safety and security.

“To create a healthy balance between the advantages and risks of technology, today’s tech savvy parents are already using a range of tools and apps for tracking and limiting their child’s screen time, such as Google Family Link and Samsung’s Parental Controls. Parents are also monitoring kids’ online activity through apps reporting capabilities, restricting access to harmful content, and managing screen time of their child on different tech devices. This harmony has helped parents become more  conscious of their kids screen time thereby developing positive digital habits. Being committed to nurturing dynamic and engaging learning environments, at Orchids The International School we keep organizing exclusive workshops by experts on Cybersecurity to help our students become responsible digital citizens. The same is also covered under our special programme SOCH that caters to the growth of socio emotional health among our students.” Attributed by Aparna Khairnar, Associate VP Academics, Orchids The International School

“Imagine turning math into an adventure – that’s what we do with our innovative digital tools. Parents are jumping on board, seeing how these tools transform learning into something kids enjoy. No more boring equations! Instead, we use real-life scenarios that kids can connect with, making math feel like a game.

What’s amazing is that these tools don’t just teach math; they build critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and even speed math abilities. It’s like giving kids a superpower! Parents are now more involved in their child’s learning journey than ever before, thanks to these digital platforms. They can see progress, help with challenges, and celebrate victories.
