MediaTek was the most used chipset by the OEMs in Q3 2022 in their smartphones; the OEMs used a total of sixteen different chipsets to launch the smartphones; among them, the most used chipset was Dimensity 810, which was used five times and six different chipsets from MediaTek have been used thrice in the smartphones, and out of these sixteen chipsets, only six 5G chipset was used to launch the smartphones.
Qualcomm was the second most used chipset by OEMs in Q3 2022 in their smartphones, and the OEMs used only seven different chipsets in Q3 2022. The most used chipset was Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which was used seven times to launch the smartphones, and out of seven chipsets, only one 4G chipset was used to launch the 4G smartphones, which was Snapdragon 680.
In Q3 2022, many OEMs also utilized Unisoc in their smartphones; they used four different chipsets in Q3 2022; the most used chipset was Unisoc SC9863A and thrice.
In the Basic (Below Rs 7000) segment, 67% of the smartphones were launched on the MediaTek chipset, followed by Unisoc with 33%.
In the Affordable (Rs 7001 – Rs 15000) segment, 65% of the smartphones were launched on the MediaTek chipset, followed by Unisoc with 19% and Qualcomm with 13%.
In the Affordable Premium (Rs 15001 – Rs 30000) segment, 65% of the smartphones were launched on MediaTek chipset, followed by Qualcomm with 30% and Unisoc with 5%.
In the Premium (Rs 30001 – Rs 60000) segment, smartphones were launched on only Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Google chipsets. Among the three chipsets, 50% of the smartphones were on Qualcomm, followed by MediaTek with 42%.
In Super Premium (Rs 60001 – Rs 100000) segment, only Qualcomm and Apple chipsets were used by the OEMs to launch smartphones in this segment in Q3 2022. From Qualcomm, only Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and from Apple A15 Bionic were used under this segment to launch the smartphones.
In the Supreme (Above Rs 100001) segment, only Qualcomm and Apple chipsets were used by the OEMs to launch smartphones in this segment in Q3 2022. From Qualcomm, only Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and from Apple A15 Bionic and A16 Bionic were used.
On MediaTek, 52% of smartphones were launched by various OEMs. Tecno, with 23%, was the one that launched a maximum number of smartphones on MediaTek chipsets, followed by Redmi and Infinix with 17% each in Q3 2022. Some OEMs in Q3 2022 haven’t launched any smartphones with MediaTek chipsets were Nokia, Nothing, Asus, Itel, Google, Motorola, iQoo, and Apple.
On Qualcomm, a total of 27% of smartphones were launched by various OEMs. Motorola, with 28%, was the one that launched the maximum number of smartphones on Qualcomm. Asus, Samsung, iQoo, Oppo, and Vivo were the OEMs that used an equal number of Qualcomm chipsets to launch the smartphones in Q3 2022, followed by Oppo, Nothing, and One Plus. Some OEMs in Q3 2022 that haven’t launched smartphones with Qualcomm chipsets: Nokia, Itel, Lava, Google, Apple, Tecno, Poco, Infinix, and Redmi.
12% of smartphones launched by various OEMs in Q3 2022 were on Unisoc. Only four OEMs used the Unisoc chipset in their smartphones: Realme, Infinix, Nokia, and Itel, in Q3 2022. Realme was the one that launched the maximum number of smartphones on the Unisoc chipset.
Smartphones were also launched on Apple, Google, and Samsung chipsets in Q3 2022, and only their own OEMs used the chipsets, from Apple A15 Bionic and A16 Bionic, Samsung Exynos 850, and Google Tensor was used to launch the smartphones in Q3 2022.
