This competition, which has a total prize fund of £18,000, allows participants to turn garbage into something valuable and good for the environment and people.
A Focus on Sustainability
Samsung’s continual effort to improve the sustainability of its goods and services is consistent with the Re:Create Design Challenge. This competition advances Samsung’s environmental initiatives by encouraging contestants to recycle scrap materials or outdated technology. Examples of Samsung’s commitment to environmentally friendly design include the EYELIKETM initiative, which transforms obsolete cellphones into medical diagnosis cameras, and recycled plastic from abandoned fishing nets to create their most recent Galaxy devices. The SolarCell Remote uses light instead of throwaway batteries, and it is made of 24% recycled materials in its plastic component.
