Regarding smartphone launches on cellular technology, 55% of the smartphones launched in Q2 2022 are on 4G cellular technology, and 45% are on 5G cellular technology.
In Q2 2022, smartphones launched under four price segments
In Affordable (Rs 7000 – Rs 15000), 96% of the smartphones launched are 4G, and only 4% of smartphones are 5G. Only Poco is the one that launched 5G smartphones under this price segment.
In Affordable Premium (Rs 15001 – Rs 30000), OEMs maintained their 4G smartphones portfolio, with 35% of smartphones launched and 65% launched on 5G. Tecno is the only OEM that has launched only 4G smartphones, and Samsung, One Plus, and Poco are the one who hasn’t launched any 4G smartphones under this price segment.
In Premium (Rs 30001 – Rs 60000) and Super Premium (Rs 60001 – Rs 100000) are the price segments under which all the smartphones launched are 5G smartphones.
On 4G cellular technology, a total of 55% of smartphones were launched by various brands. Vivo and Infinix, with 19% each, are the two OEMs that have launched a maximum number of 4G smartphones in Q2 2022. Three OEMs hasn’t launched any 4G cellular technology smartphones in their portfolio are One Plus, Xiaomi, and Poco.
On 5G cellular technology, a total of 45% of smartphones were launched by various brands. Realme, with 24%, is the one that has launched a maximum number of smartphones on 5G cellular technology, followed by Vivo with 14% in Q2 2022. Some OEMs in Q2 2022 haven’t launched any 5G smartphones in their portfolios, such as Tecno, Nokia, Redmi, Micromax, and Infinix.
OEMs used MediaTek maximum for their 4G cellular technology-based smartphone launches in Q2 2022. MediaTek chipset was used in 50% of 4G smartphone launches in Q2 2022, followed by UNISOC and Qualcomm, both with each 23%
OEMs in Q2 2022 for their 5G cellular technology-based smartphone launches utilize the Qualcomm chipsets the most. 57% of 5G smartphones launched are on Qualcomm chipset, followed by MediaTek with 38%.
For the 4G smartphones launched in Q2 2022, from the UNISOC, OEMs used the T610 chipset the most, and those who launched 4G smartphones in Q2 2022 used only a single Qualcomm chipset which was Snapdragon 680.
For the 5G smartphone launches in Q2 2022, OEMs used the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 695 chipset the most, and MediaTek used the Dimensity 810 chipset the most.
