Solve for Tomorrow, the national competition for education and innovation sponsored by Samsung India, has generated much interest among young people all around the nation. The competition, which has received more than 50,000 registrations from all over the world, including smaller towns like Begusarai, Chitradurga, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Jalpaiguri, Khurda, North 24 Parganas, Madhubani, and Pathanamthitta, demonstrates the growing desire of young people to develop cutting-edge technological solutions that solve real-world issues and have a positive social impact.
Opportunity to Turn Ideas into Action
To help them realize their ideas, the top three teams in the competition will each get INR 1.5 crore. Applying for Solve for Tomorrow is open to young people between 16 and 22 until May 31, 2023, at 5 p.m. on the official website, www.samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow. India’s largest electronics brand seeks innovative ideas in CSR around themes like diversity, health, environment, and education.
Themes and Participants
49% focus on education, 28% on environment, 18% on health, and 5% on diversity. 73% of candidates, or the majority, are between 18 and 22. India’s youth from all regions have contributed ideas that address a variety of pressing issues, such as e-waste management, recycling of marine plastic waste, circular economy, climate change, agricultural yields, clean water availability, healthcare costs, mental health, accident prevention, improving educational systems, and opening up job opportunities in rural areas.
Selection Process and Mentorship
Samsung will shortlist the top 30 teams (individuals or teams of up to three members) from the applications. During a residential boot camp hosted at IIT Delhi, these teams will get training and mentoring from Samsung and its partners, the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi, and MeitY Startup Hub. Participants’ ideas will be improved and refined through this program. The top 30 teams get INR 20,000 for prototypes and concept presentations to Samsung, FITT, IIT Delhi, and MeitY Startup Hub.
Prototype Enhancement and Interaction with Samsung
The jury will choose the best 10 teams from the first 30 teams to compete in the finals. Each team receives INR 100,000 to enhance prototypes based on feedback from mentors and jury. The top 10 teams will visit Samsung India’s offices, R&D facilities, design center, and Samsung Opera House in Bengaluru.
Grand Finale and National Winners
The program will announce three national champions who win Samsung devices and a grand prize worth INR 1.5 crore. Solve for Tomorrow engages 2.3 million global youth and operates in 63 countries since its 2010 US launch.
