On April 11, 2023, Tecno Phantom V Fold, a foldable phone, was introduced in India. It is the first horizontally folding phone that uses a chipset from MediaTek called the Dimensity 9000+.
The phone sports a 7.85-inch foldable screen with a 2,296 x 2,000-pixel resolution. The screen features a 2:3 aspect ratio and is “virtually crease-free.” The phone sports a 6.42-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED folding display and a 7.65-inch LTPO AMOLED outer display. The foldable screen includes an aerospace-grade unique drop-shaped hinge with a fixed-axis rotate and slide tech and a reverse snap structure, which, according to Tecno, will provide a smooth folding and crease-free experience. It is a cost-effective substitute for the foldable Samsung Galaxy phones.
The phone’s 5000mAh battery can be charged at 45W (wired only) for extended periods. The 50MP primary camera of the Phantom V Fold produces sufficient color realism and acceptable daytime detail. Based on Android 13, the phone’s HiOS 13 Fold skin is used.
When unfurled, the phone is 6.9 mm thick; when folded, it is 14.2-14.5 mm wide. It also includes a side fingerprint sensor. Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) support is available, and it weighs 299 grams. The phone’s folding form and built-in functions will increase its customers’ level of productivity. On April 12, it will be offered for sale at a special discounted price of Rs 77,777, with a Rs 5,000 discount for HDB bank cards. The Phantom V Fold costs much less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which costs above Rs 1,50,000.
