In a significant move to address quality complaints and trade disputes, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in Rajkot convened a meeting on April 15, 2024, under the chairmanship of Deputy DGFT Shri Rohit Soni. The committee discussed several cases, notably the dispute between M/s. Global Converting Corp, Florida, USA, and M/s. Lemanza Cellulose LLP, Morbi. Despite repeated communication attempts, M/s. Lemanza Cellulose LLP failed to respond to the DGFT’s inquiries or attend the meeting, leading to their blacklisting.

Smt. Jasmine Hora, representing the aggrieved M/s. Global Converting Corp, highlighted the non-payment of invoice dues and abandonment of containers at the port by M/s. Lemanza Cellulose LLP. The DGFT committee, acknowledging the lack of resolution despite diligent efforts, advised the complainant to seek legal remedies.

The meeting underscored the DGFT’s commitment to facilitating fair trade practices and the swift resolution of international trade disputes. The committee’s decision to close the case and blacklist the defaulter sends a strong message to uphold the integrity of trade agreements and the importance of responsive communication.
