The top 30 teams chosen for Samsung India’s famous youth education and innovation competition, Solve for Tomorrow, have been revealed. The contest encourages creative thinking and problem-solving in Indian teenagers between 16 and 22. Participants were asked to submit ideas on four major themes: diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, environment and sustainability, and education and learning.
Impressive Participation and Collaboration
- Over 70,000 young people from 500 Indian cities, towns, and villages registered for Solve for Tomorrow 2023.
- Samsung India organized the competition in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub and the Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi.

Themes and Geographic Representation
- Education and learning concepts were provided by 44% of the top 30 teams.
- Environmental sustainability and environmentalism were the focus for 23% of the teams.
- Health & Wellness received 13% of the proposals, while 20% focused on Diversity & Inclusion.
- The selected teams represent 15 states and one union territory, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Haryana, Rajasthan, Assam, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Delhi.
Addressing Real-World Problems
- The top 30 teams submitted proposals to address urgent real-world concerns.
- Proposed solutions include turning seawater into potable water, preventing drunk driving, promoting youth skill development, raising solar panel efficiency, locating missing children, treating mental health difficulties, cutting down on food waste, finding crop illnesses, protecting minors from inappropriate information, and overcoming gender prejudice in STEM sectors.

Supporting Youth Innovation
- Mr. Hyun Kim, Corporate Vice President of Samsung Southwest Asia, expressed the company’s commitment to using young people’s skills and competencies for social change.
- Prof. Rangan Banerjee, IIT Delhi Director, emphasized the chance for selected teams to contribute creative ideas and boost India’s innovation ecosystem.
- Mr. Jeet Vijay, CEO of MeitY Startup Hub, expressed confidence in guiding and supporting the teams.
Training, Mentoring, and Prizes
- The top 30 teams will receive online training in design thinking and innovation.
- Samsung, FITT at IIT Delhi, and MeitY Startup Hub will provide coaching during a residential boot camp at IIT Delhi.
- Each team will receive INR 20,000 to fund the creation of their early prototypes.
- Teams present concepts to Samsung workers, FITT, IIT Delhi, and MeitY Startup Hub’s young jury for pitching.
- The jury will select the top 10 teams for the final round.
Samsung India Facilities Visit
- The top 30 teams will tour Samsung India’s Bengaluru facilities, including R&D, design center, and Samsung Opera House.
- They will have the opportunity to interact with Samsung personnel and researchers during the visit.

Grand Finale and Exciting Prizes
- The program ends with three winners receiving new Samsung gadgets and a prize pool of INR 1.5 crore.
- Solve for Tomorrow has been operating in 63 nations since its 2010 American debut and has engaged over 2.3 million young people worldwide in developing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
