The analysis is based on the smartphones launched in 1H 2022. The study on the number of smartphones launched on various chipsets.
MediaTek and Qualcomm chipsets were equally used to launch smartphones in 1H 2022. From MediaTek, nineteen different chipsets have been used by OEMs in smartphones, and out of that, eight 5G chipsets and 11 4G chipsets were used to launch the smartphone in 1H 2022.
From Qualcomm, the OEMs have used nine different chipsets in smartphones, and out of that, one 4G chipset and eight 5G chipsets were used to launch the smartphone in 1H 2022.
Many OEMs also used Unisoc in their smartphones in 1H 2022; OEMs used six different chipsets in 1H 2022; all are 4G chipsets, and the most used chipset is Unisoc T612.
From Samsung, three different chipsets have been used by the OEMs in the smartphones, and out of that, one 4G chipset and two 5G chipsets were used to launch the smartphone in 1H 2022.
From Apple, only one chipset has been used by OEMs in smartphones, and the chipset is 5G which was used to launch the smartphone in 1H 2022.
In the Basic (Below Rs 7000) segment, 60% of the smartphones launched on Unisoc chipset, followed by MediaTek with 40%.
In the Affordable (Rs 7001 – Rs 15000) segment, 50% of the smartphones launched on MediaTek chipset, followed by Unisoc with 24% and Qualcomm with 22%.
In the Affordable Premium (Rs 15001 – Rs 30000) segment, 55% of the smartphones launched are on Qualcomm chipset, followed by MediaTek with 40% and Samsung with 6%.
In the Premium (Rs 30001 – Rs 60000) segment, 53% of the smartphones launched are on Qualcomm, followed by MediaTek with 32%, followed by Samsung with 11%.
In Super Premium (Rs 60001 – Rs 100000) and Supreme (Above Rs 100000) segments, Only Qualcomm chipset is by the OEMs to launch smartphones in this segment in 1H 2022.
On MediaTek, a total of 41% of the smartphones were launched by various OEMs. Vivo, with 19%, is the one that has launched a maximum number of smartphones on MediaTek chipsets, followed by Realme and Tecno with 13% each in 1H 2022. Some OEMs in 1H 2022 haven’t launched any smartphones with MediaTek chipsets, such as iQoo, itel, Asus, Apple, and Nokia.
On Qualcomm, a total of 41% of smartphones were launched by various OEMs. iQoo and Vivo were the OEMs, with 15% each using Qualcomm chipsets to launch the smartphones in 1H 2022, followed by Realme and Samsung with 13% each in 1H 2022. Some OEMs in 1H 2022 haven’t launched smartphones with Qualcomm chipsets, such as Lava, Infinix, Tecno, itel, Micromax, Apple, and Nokia.
On Unisoc, a total of 12% of the smartphones were launched by various OEMs. Only seven OEMs used the Unisoc chipset in their smartphones, and the Realme with 29% is the one who used the maximum Unisoc chipsets to launch the smartphones, followed by itel 21%, and followed by Infinix and Nokia with 14% each, in 1H 2022.
Only Samsung used Samsung chipsets. Only three Samsung chipsets were used: Exynos 850, Exynos 1280, and Exynos 2100. Only Apple used Apple chipsets. Only one Apple chipset was used: A15 Bionic, and the smartphone in which It was used was Apple iPhone SE 2022, which was launched in March 2022.
